Adopting framework of social enterprise ecosystem，the study explores the development of social enterprise ecosystems in China along four dimensions：policies and regulations，financing strategies，human resources and social enterprise supperting organizations. The study finds that the social enterprise ecosystem in China is emerging，but it is still facing several challenges，such as the weak policy and regulatory support，the inadequate use of new financing tools，the insufficient supply of hybrid employees，and the poorly developed support platforms. In this regard，the ecosystem should be strengthened in terms of improving policies and regulations for social enterprises，promoting the transformation from traditional funding methods to new financing approaches，building a dual-track talent training program of “market + university”，and strengthening the functions of social enterprise support platforms.
