Shenzhen Futian Mangrove Ecological Park is the first batch of municipal wetland parks in Shenzhen. It is an urban ecological park with integrated functions including ecological restoration，science education，recreation，and others. After its completion in November 2015，the park was authorized to be managed by Shenzhen Mangrove Wetlands Conservation Foundation（MCF）by People’s Government of Shenzhen Futian District. It is the first ecological park in China that was planned and constructed by the government and managed by an NGO. In the past five years，MCF has carried out a lot of work to improve biodiversity in this urban natural reserve，including the restoration of microhabitats，the management of invasive species，the introduction of native plants，and the reconstruction of multiple types of wetlands. This work improved the biodiversity of the park and provided citizens with green spaces. MCF also enhanced the connection between people and nature by installing nature interpretive signs and carrying out environmental education. The management of the park provides an innovative model of urban nature reserve management.
