As the Yangtze River’s iconic scenic spot and Chongqing’s Eco-friendly Island，Chongqing’s Guangyang Island has made tentative yet useful attempts in terms of mapping out a blueprint for planning，developing innovative institutions and mechanisms，accelerating ecological restoration，and defining functional roles. This papers suggests that for the next steps，Guangyang Island should take a more holistic approach，seek synergy，blaze an innovative trail，accelerate key projects and assume a higher profile as a model of green development.
