The Yangtze River Economic Belt is an important industrial corridor in China. In key fields its industrial chain ranks in the forefront of the nation. However，it still faces daunting challenges，which include，among other things，weak innovation capabilities，prominent safety problems，acute lack of sustainability，absence of collaborative development on a regional basis. We must work hard to beef up the industrial chain by moving up the value chain，strengthening environmental protection and pursuing deeper opening-up initiatives. It is imperative to focus on improving the resilience，stability and flexibility of the industrial chain so as to underpin the emergence of a new development paradigm.
