Western Development is concerned with overall situation of China’s reform and opening-up and modernization. During “13th Five-year Plan” period，under the strong leadership of the Party Central Committee leading core led by General Secretary Xi Jinping and concerted efforts of all parties，especially the grass-roots cadres and the general public in the western region，historic accomplishment has been made，but the prominent issue of unbalanced and inadequate development in western region still exists. This research gives a comprehensive summary of western development main effects，base on the objectively analyses of problem and difficult which we confronting，propose countermeasures and points out striving direction of China’s western development in the “14th Five-year Plan” period.
