With the promulgation and implementation of a series of policy documents，such as the action plan for supporting social forces to hold large-scale mass sports events such as marathon and bicycle （2017），the national fitness plan （2016-2020），and the outline for building a sports power，there has been an upsurge of nationwide participation in marathon in China. More and more cities in China want to run marathons，and the number of marathons is increasing rapidly，which lays the foundation for the rapid development of marathons to a certain extent. However，under the influence of the epidemic，the restart of Beijing marathon is facing many challenges in terms of health and safety，operation，participants，sponsors，local government and volunteers. Using the methods of literature review and mathematical statistics，this paper makes SWOT analysis on the challenges faced by the restart of Beijing marathon under the epidemic situation. This study illustrates the challenges facing the Beijing Marathon restart under the epidemic situation from six aspects：hygiene and safety，race operation，race participants，race sponsors，local government and volunteers. This paper puts forward the following suggestions：In terms of health and safety，we should strengthen the prevention and control of infectious diseases. The event operator shall conduct a comprehensive review of the event and negotiate a crisis plan. In terms of participants，local participants should be given priority to reduce the flow of people between cities. In terms of event sponsorship，online “cloud event” will be carried out to repay the rights and interests of sponsors. The local government should build an evaluation system for marathon events and strengthen information exchange among different departments. In terms of volunteers，more local volunteers will be recruited to reduce the flow of people between cities.
