As the world’s first large-scale national-level exhibition with the theme of import，China International Import Expo（CIIE）is of great significance for Shanghai to build itself into an “international convention and exhibition capital”. It has not only boosted the development of a number of leading exhibition enterprises and brands，but promoted the perfection of urban comprehensive service level and support system and the coordinated development of exhibition，business，tourism，culture and sports. More importantly，CIIE has enhanced the knowledge and understanding of the convention and exhibition industry among government departments at all levels and the public，thus bringing great impetus for innovation to Shanghai’s convention and exhibition industry. Starting from the evaluation of the status quo of Shanghai as an international convention and exhibition capital，based on the analysis framework of the impact of F&SE on host cities，this report analyzes the impact mechanism of CIIE on the construction of international convention and exhibition capital from the perspective of location factors’ changes. On this basis，according to the basic framework of urban convention and exhibition industry development，from nine aspects such as the industrial development mission，the overall destination marketing，this paper studies the promotion effects of the CIIE on the construction of Shanghai international convention and exhibition capital，and then puts forward corresponding countermeasures and suggestions.
