As the pioneer of China’s reform and opening up，the eastern region has experienced rapid economic development relying on coastal location advantage and preferential national policies. In recent years，a collection of cities in the eastern region achieved trillion GDP，a concentration of advanced manufacturing industries，together with a balanced modern service industry has become the core area and growth pole driving the rapid growth of the national economy，which has been steadily ranked as the most developed region in China’s economic and social development for a long time. Since the release of the Special Action Guidelines for the Development of Service-Oriented Manufacturing in 2016，the eastern region had taken the lead and actively explored new models and forms of service-oriented manufacturing. In conclusion，the eastern region has taken the lead in initiating the service-oriented manufacturing transformation practice nationwide by relying on the foundation of special industrial clustering and in-depth application of digital technology. Through the construction of modern industrial system，model innovation，system planning，the development of service-oriented manufacturing has been effective，the work has carried out in multi channels and aspects. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period，the eastern region should take the leading position and serving as an example，strengthen global cooperation，data aggregation，collaborative innovation，benchmark international advanced experience，explore a new path to industrialization with Chinese characteristics，and push forward the high-quality development of manufacturing.
