In 2012, surveys and researches in the field of sociology relevant to the elderly include the changes of family structure of the elderly, changes of the position of the elderly at their homes, difficulties of adult children in caring their parents, inequality among the elderly, suicides of the elderly, social support for the elderly and mental health of the elderly etc. The research findings reveal some problems in the regard of social policies for the elderly and their families. Family building for the elderly was put on the agenda by the 12th Five Year Plan of China's Cause of Aging in order to improve the supportive policies for families in the future five years, marking a good start. Meanwhile, the governments should pay more attentions to the problems e.g. the elderly's low starus at homes, suicide of the elderly and mental health problems etc. <<
