Innovative thinking and re-creation of methods are important approaches for the development of China's retail supermarkets. Based on the analysis of the status quo of traditional supermarkets, this paper uses the Porter Five Force Model to address the opportunities and challenges of supermarkets in the competition process. It is elaborated from five aspects: the negotiation ability of suppliers, the bargaining power of buyers, the coercion of new entrants, the increase in the choice of alternatives, and the degree of competition of existing competitors in the industry.
