In 2018, China ushered in the 40th anniversary of reform and opening up, and the development and construction of Shanghai's Lingang area entered its 15th year. On July 10, 2018, the Shanghai Municipal Government and the United States Tesla Company signed a cooperation memorandum. Tesla Company and Shanghai Lingang Management Committee and Lingang Group jointly signed an investment agreement for a pure electric vehicle project. A Tesla super factory with an annual output of 500,000 pure electric vehicles is officially settled in Shanghai Lingang. This project is the largest foreign-funded manufacturing project in Shanghai's history. It is the first project after the opening of domestic electric vehicle foreign equity ratios. It is also the first super factory built by Tesla overseas to enhance Shanghai's image of opening up to the outside world.
