Founded in 1984，Beijing City College is the first new type of university that implements a public-owned and private-operation system in China. It has Zhongguancun campus，Hangtiancheng campus and Shunyi Yangzhen campus. The school was originally established on Zhongguancun campus in Haidian，Beijing. District No. 269，North Fourth Ring Middle Road. The school has more than 2000 faculty members and more than 25000 full-time students. Its scale ranks first among Beijing-affiliated universities. The school，formerly known as Haidian Day University，is a new type of school jointly initiated by Tsinghua University，Peking University，Renmin University and the Haidian District Government. Institutionally，the school does not use state funds，does not include allocation，and students self-funded day；in the content，it is an application-oriented university that focuses on cultivating practical ability rather than theoretical ability. It is a product of China’s higher education reform in the 1980s. It always adheres to the nature of “public ownership and private operation”，adheres to the principle of public welfare and open，adheres to the purpose of serving the society，and adheres to the “three-system” education model of professional education，public service education，and ideological education. After more than 30 years，the school has successively won many “firsts”，and it is “the first university to train applied talents”，“the first private general university” in Beijing，and China’s “first batch of graduate schools with a master’s degree”.
