Local news website is one of the network media with the highest page view rate among all the information media today. It is of great significance to study the social responsibility it bears. On the basis of empirical data，this paper uses qualitative and quantitative methods to construct an indicator system for the social responsibility of news websites，and carries out a comprehensive assessment of their social responsibility undertaking. The results show that the overall level of local news websites in the implementation of social responsibility is good，but there are still five problems，such as ineffective guidance of social trends，vulgar content information. This paper discusses the effective ways to improve the implementation of social responsibility of local news websites on this basis.
