As an important part and form of expression of Chinese literature and art，variety show not only has the value of providing entertainment for the public but also bear social responsibility and embodies social value. In 2020，variety shows have entered a relatively rational stage of development. More and more variety shows focus on social topics，convey humanistic care，and begin to focus on content creation guided by mainstream values. Some variety shows carry forward the excellent traditional Chinese culture，pay attention to cultivate the audience’s entertainment aesthetic taste，express a positive attitude towards life，and restrain the spread of social anxiety with a relaxed and pleasant program atmosphere. At the same time，the positive temperament contained in the popular variety show also helps young people to establish a correct outlook on life，values，and the world. At present，academia and industry pay less attention to the social value of variety shows. Therefore，this article starts from the development context and trend of a variety show，basing on the actual development of variety show，combing with industry characteristics and expert opinions，we build an index system to evaluate the social value of variety show，and comprehensively use a variety of analysis methods to outline a panorama of the pursuit of social value and the embodiment of social responsibility of comprehensive show with the characteristics of the times to take social responsibility to provide a reference.
