Innovative urban areas are an important hub of the regional innovation system and a key space carrier for the implementation of the innovation-driven national strategy. It is helpful to analyze and sort out the innovative development model of urban areas in combination with innovative resource allocation，innovative service environment，and innovative policy mechanisms. To gain a deeper understanding of the urban area’s innovation power mechanism，and provide support for the formulation of innovation strategies and planning decisions. This paper combines the relevant theories，practical experience of innovation space and innovative urban areas. 11 advanced urban areas with a relatively high level of comprehensive development and outstanding innovation capabilities from the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei，Yangtze River Delta，Pearl River Delta are selected. In terms of innovation output and other aspects，the characteristics of agglomeration of innovation elements were compared from a multi-dimensional perspective，and four types of innovative urban development models were concluded：integration-driven，market-driven，platform-driven，and service-driven.
