Since the reform and opening up，China’s competitive sports，as the “vanguard” of the cause of sports，has been picking up and has achieved remarkable achievements in the past ten years. This report sorts out major events in competitive sports and its profile in 2020，summarizes the characteristics of development，and looks to the future. In terms of development profile，many sport events have been suspended or even cancelled due to COVID-19 pandemic. In the face of these changes，Chinese sport system has made great efforts to contain coronavirus pandemic and athletes have vigorously prepared for competition as scheduled. Meanwhile，the sport system has been actively exploring new models for staging events and endeavored to ensure tournaments resumption while carrying out regular COVID-19 control.
