Economic and trade relations between China and Germany have developed well over recent years，but competition between the two economies is gradually increasing. The COVID-19 pandemic has had a huge impact on economic and trade exchanges between China and Germany. The global industrial and supply chain has been disrupted，and this has brought new challenges to Sino-German economic relations. Taking the pandemic as backdrop，this paper analyzes the challenges of Sino-German economic relations from the macro，investment and value chain levels；it then explores the economic resilience and mutual dependence of the two countries from these three perspectives. We find that although the pandemic has had a negative impact on economic and trade relations，economic cooperation between the two sides has entered a new stage of development because of growing bilateral trade and the deepening integration of the machinery and automobile sector. China’s new round of opening-up policies will provide an impulse for the economic recovery of both countries in the post-pandemic period.
