Due to the distinctive functions and values，equity family trusts become an inevitable route for HNWIs to achieve multiple goals with inclusion of wealth preservation and inheritance，separate management of family and enterprise and family philanthropy. Due to the lack of trust registration and taxation systems in China，the practice of equity family trusts in mainland China is still uncommon；equity family trusts can only be established through indirect methods，package of well-rounded professional services is also missing. In recent years，as the establishment of the “Civil Code” and pragmatists’ efforts in exploring trials and errors，representative and enlightening cases have emerged，and the “general direction” for the improvement of the equity trust system has also reached a consensus. “Internally and externally correlated” equity family trusts are becoming the major carrier of capital and asset operations of private enterprises in China，and also the major tool for family wealth preservation and inheritance，providing taxation planning and charitable function to HNWIs.
