China is one of the countries with the most neighbors in the world. A detailed understanding of the surrounding situation is of extremely important strategic significance to China. Based on Global Opinion Index survey data by the Institute of National Communication Strategy （INCS） of HUST in 2020，this research starts with national power evaluation，interest level，visit status，impression score，relationship perception and event evaluation，and investigate the Chinese public’s evaluation of neighboring countries. The survey results show that the Chinese public believes that Russia has played an important role in today’s international affairs；the neighbouring countries with the highest frequency of visits by the Chinese public are Japan and South Korea；the top three most interested countries are Russia，Japan and South Korea；in addition to their home country，the Chinese public pays the most attention to news related to Japan；most of them regard Pakistan and Russia as “partner countries” and Japan as a “competitor country”.
