Objectives：This study aimed to explore the focused areas，mergers and acquisitions（M&A） deals and the development history of giant corporations in global medtechindustry，which may provide experience for reference for the development of Chinese medtech industry. Methods：We searched the newly approved medical devices by FDA in recent years，the big M&A deals and the development history of giant corporations in medtech industry，and summarized the focused areas，M&A market and industrial distribution of giant corporations. Results：The investments in research and development of medical devices by major manufacturers are increasing，so innovative medical devices have emerged consecutively. Both count and value of M&A were raised. All of giant corporations have their own advanced areas in medtech industry. Conclusions：Innovation and M&A will lead the development of global medtech industry in future.
