United front work for the new generation of overseas Chinese descent is pivotal to future overseas united front work. The united front work for overseas Chinese is distinctly contemporary，urgent and vital. How to correctly handle the relationship between consistency and diversity，build a sense of Chinese national community among the new generation of overseas Chinese descent，and unite them to share the Chinese Dream？This paper analyses the characteristics of cultural identity，self-awareness，value orientation，diversity and complexity，and pioneering and innovative thinking of the new generation of Chinese descent. It proposes to take “root”，“soul”，and “dream” as the mainline and centre on the strategic positioning and advantages of Beijing to carry out the united front work of the new generation of Chinese descent，correctly establishing the Chinese national image and telling the China story. It also puts forward suggestions on the use of scientific and technological methods，big data thinking，targeted united front work and other proposals based on different types of the new generation of overseas Chinese descent.
