In 2020，the national work safety situation is generally stable，with both the number of accidents and the death toll falling. For the first time since the founding of the People’s Republic of China，no major work safety accidents occurred throughout the year. The Opinions on Promoting the Reform and Development of Work Safety （hereinafter referred to as the Opinions） set the goals of ‘significantly reducing the total number of accidents’ and ‘stopping the frequent occurrence of major and major production safety accidents’. In 2020，the safety production supervision system will be adjusted in accordance with the safety production risk structure，and the supervision of hazardous chemicals will be more focused in terms of institutions and establishment resources. The reform work follows the requirements of the ‘Opinions’ and continues to proceed in an orderly manner in the five directions of responsibility，system，rule of law，prevention and control，and foundation. Finally，suggestions were made on the innovation of safety supervision methods，the construction of grass-roots supervision capacity，and the 14th Five-Year Plan for production safety.
