In 2020，Africa’s political，security，economic and integration process have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic，and uncertainties were on the rise. Major global powers continue to invest more resources in Africa and attach greater importance to the continent. Africa has become an important partner for all parties. Although the COVID-19 pandemic has brought impact on the development of China-Africa relations，the traditional friendship between China and Africa has withstood the test and the strategic mutual trust between the two sides has continued to deepen. The Extraordinary China-Africa Summit on Solidarity against COVID-19 has become the only all-African summit hosted by major country，and the celebration of the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation（FOCAC）were successfully held and achieved good results. China and Africa have overcome the challenges of the pandemic，steadily promoted the implementation of the follow-ups of the FOCAC Beijing Summit，actively carried out cooperation in the fields of anti-epidemic and public health，and made important contributions to Africa’s economic recovery after the pandemic. China and African countries supported each other in international affairs and issues concerning the other’s core interests and major concerns，having vigorously safeguarded the legitimate rights and interests of developing countries and international fairness and justice. Under the new circumstances，China-Africa relations are now facing important development opportunities. Defeating COVID-19 with solidarity has sublimated China-Africa traditional friendship. The new development stage nurtures opportunities for cooperation. The evolution of the international environment calls for closer coordination between China and African countries. However，we are still facing the impact of COVID-19 and many internal and external challenges，which must be dealt with in a coordinated manner from a developing perspective. 2021 is the first year of the “14th Five-Year Plan” and the year of the new FOCAC Meeting. In order to elevate the China-Africa comprehensive strategic and cooperative partnership to a new height，China will work with the African side to strengthen political guidance and strategic alignment，defeat COVID-19 with solidarity，jointly host the FOCAC meeting，intensify cooperation in international affairs，facilitate cultural exchanges，and contribute to the formation of a situation in which all parties jointly support the development of Africa.
