Due to the influence of COVID-19，the number of social security incidents in China has decreased significantly in 2020，and the number of large scale events has decreased. The main characteristics and institutional innovation of emergency management of social security events in China in 2020 are mainly reflected in six aspects：the major breakthrough in the source management of social security emergency management；positive progress in the system construction of social security emergency management；steady progress in the organization and construction of emergency management of social security incidents；and the emergency management of social security incidents caused by land expropriation The major innovation was implemented；the emergency management effect of social security incidents caused by illegal financing was obvious；the emergency management pressure of social security incidents caused by long rent apartments was huge，and the mass crowd rights protection events caused by the crisis of eggshell apartment were typical representatives.
