Sports event reflects a city’s soft power and international competitiveness. It is a notable indicator in the construction of an outstanding global sports city. It plays a unique role in shaping the city image，raising city grade，enhancing cohesion and stimulating the economy. The Sports event in Shanghai has been developing rapidly，with more sports events，improving level and more projects. This report evaluates domestic and international sports events held in Shanghai during the year of 2019 in order to further understand their concentration，professionalism，effects on the economy and the society. On this basis，this report puts forward suggestions on speeding up the differentiation of sports event brands，strengthening the integration of resources，and speeding up the integration of business types，so as to provide objective basis and reference for the layout of sports events in Shanghai，and help Shanghai to realize the goal of building a world-class international sports event city and a world famous sports city as soon as possible.
