The section of the Grand Canal in Shandong is located in the middle of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal，which is an important section connecting the north and south of the Canal and plays an important role in the construction of the National Culture Park for the Grand Canal. Due to the lack of relative knowledge，research results and practical experience，there are inevitably problems and deficiencies in the construction of the park in Shandong，such as unclear concept understanding，uncertain construction and management subjects，insufficient heritage excavation and weak overall planning and coordination ability. In the face of these problems and deficiencies，Shandong should adhere to the principles of authenticity and integrity，coordinated development，sustainable development and operability，etc. While exploring the cultural connotation of the canal and highlighting regional cultural characteristics，we should strengthen the protection of heritage and innovate the mode of inheritance and utilization. Special think tanks should be set up；academic research should be strengthened；major projects should be carried out；tourist routes with distinctive features should be developed；and the management system and overall coordination mechanism should be established and improved. Efforts should be made to build the National Culture Park for the Grand Canal （Shandong section） into a demonstration area for the protection，inheritance and utilization of the Grand Canal culture with distinctive features，rich connotations and strong attraction.
