Chinese women joined the nation in celebrating the 70^th founding anniversary of the People’s Republic of China in 2019；and in 2020，at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic，they led the way with their commitment and dedication to tide the country over the coronavirus crisis. They displayed distinct characteristics in their pursuit of all-round development. （1）They have the national interest in mind and align personal development with the development of the country. （2）They forge ahead with hard work and take the initiative to take on risks and challenges. （3）They play a unique role in family education and the improvement in family conduct. （4）They practice frugality and live a civilized，healthy，green and eco-friendly lifestyle. （5）They advocate the value of self-esteem，self-confidence，self-reliance and self-improvement，and work hard to cultivate oneself. （6）They actively spread positive energy and take the initiative to provide volunteer services. Their new needs and expectations in the new era include：achieving moderate prosperity in all respects and continuing to pursue a better life；a better family life with the much-needed help of domestic services；and better adjusting to pressure from multiple sources. This paper suggests motivating women to strive for success in building a new development pattern and achieving a better life；giving full play to the unique role of women’s federations and women in strengthening family education and improving family conduct；making gender equality a reality and empowering women to lead the way of the times.
