In the 21st century，the rapid development of science and technology such as the Internet，cloud computing，and big data，and the integration of contradiction and dispute resolution methods with technology have given birth to online dispute resolution mechanisms. In recent years，our country’s online dispute resolution mechanism has been greatly developed. This article analyzes the development environment of online dispute resolution mechanisms from the background of the times，political backgrounds，and social backgrounds，and investigates Beijing’s practice of online dispute resolution mechanism in 2020 from the perspectives of establishing online dispute resolution platforms，promoting the intelligent development of online dispute resolution mechanisms，and strengthening publicity and guidance. And the article also analyzes the development of online dispute resolution mechanism is facing some difficulties and shortcomings such as low public recognition，endogenous defects，low level of intelligence，and unsound laws and regulations. And some suggestions have been made to improve the online dispute resolution mechanism from several aspects such as strengthening the protection of laws and regulations，improving the level of intelligence，strengthening the construction of the talent team，strengthening the interconnection of online and offline dispute resolution mechanisms，and strengthening publicity and guidance.
