The widespread use of big data technology is changing the way people think，work and manage. The application of big data technology could promote the refinement of urban governance and therefore we will live a better life. In recent years，there have been remarkable achievements in using big data to refine the urban governance. However，there are still deficiencies in the governance concept，governance subject，governance mode and governance capacity. We suggest that measures be taken to promote the refinement of urban governance from five aspects，that are the upgrading of concepts，the scientific planning，openness and sharing，the refinement of standards and the mobilization of the whole people.
