In 2020，the COVID-19 spread globally，and Laos was also severely affected and tested. In the face of the raging epidemic，with a high sense of responsibility for the life safety and physical health of the people，the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party strengthened the Party’s leadership over the work，made scientific plans and systematic deployment，quickly introduced a series of forceful measures，united with and led the people across the country to successfully resist the spread of the COVID-19，demonstrating the tremendous advantages of the socialist system. In the context of the comprehensive fighting against the epidemic，the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party has，as always，adhered to a development path which suits its own national conditions，made breakthroughs，overcame all kinds of difficulties and obstacles，and continued to promote new economic and social development. Looking ahead，the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party will take the 11th National Congress to be held in early 2021 as a new starting point in defense of socialism with Laos characteristics to furtherly strengthen party building，improve the party’s ability to lead and govern，implement the innovation at a deeper level，promote economic and social development in high-quality，strengthen the unity of the people，improve citizens’ living quality and strive to graduate from least developed country status.
