Since Kim Jong-un came to power，the Workers’ Party of Korea，under the leadership of Kim Jong-un，has held high the banner of Kimilsungism-Kimjongilism，taking “people firstism” as its ruling philosophy，and continued to move towards building socialism with Korean characteristics. In the new period，it has gone through the line of “simultaneous advancement of nuclear and economic growth”，and then shifted the focus of work to economic construction，achieved new developments in DPRK’s socialism，and improved China-DPRK relations. In the context of the successful fight against the COVID-19，the Workers’ Party of Korea held its eighth congress in early 2021 and revised its Party constitution. Kim Jong-un was elected as the general secretary of the Workers’ Party of Korea. Socialism in Korea will continue to move forward under the guidance of the ideological guidance of independence and self-reliance.
