In recent years，the development of industrial design in China has stepped into the fast lane and become an important engine of innovation driven economic and social transformation. On the one hand，industrial design is booming. On the other hand，there are also related problems under the influence of many objective factors. The main problems faced by China’s industrial design are the regional and industrial shortcomings in the level of industrial design，the lack of top-notch design talents，the imperfect talent training system，the lack of effective protection of design intellectual property rights and the lack of national cultural heritage. In this paper，the current development trends of China’s industrial design and the pain point of the problem are described and analyzed in detail. The crisis of industrial design under the pandemic situation breeds new opportunities. We should pay attention to the combination of internationalization and localization，cultivate multi-skilling design talents，and constantly enhance the competitiveness of China’s industrial design.
