The global economy has entered the era of index economy. Under the development mode of the four major international bay areas，the status quo of the industrial design industry in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area “9+2” city cluster has been studied. This report analyzes data from the five dimensions of order index，design volume index，employment index，demand index，and innovation index. The industrial design index of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area is in the expansion range，innovation is strong，and production expansion is strong. It aims to propose countermeasures for the high-quality development of industries in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Guided by the current industrial development problems，this paper puts forward major problems and countermeasures to promote the government’s innovative governance，gradually realize regional coordination，enhance the driving force of innovative design，cultivate advanced manufacturing clusters，optimize the business environment of enterprises，and stimulate the vitality of industrial development，aiming to promote the manufacturing industry in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area in the face of “profound changes unseen in a century” and “the Fourth Industrial Revolution” in order to achieve high-quality development，we should accurately position and avoid detours.
