The proportion of the elderly population in the East Nanjing Road Community is among the highest in Shanghai. At the same time，the supply of housing and facilities is insufficient to keep up with the changes in the aging society. Thus，it is urgent to renovate housing and facilities to get homefit environment for the elderly. Over the years，East Nanjing Road Community has focused on community-based elderly care，and continued improving the related system to better serve the elderly residents. In December 2019，East Nanjing Road Community became one of the first batch of pilot communities in Shanghai to renovate living environment for the elderly. From then on，many attempts have been made and rich experiences have been accumulated. This article systematically summarizes the background，practices，typical cases and main achievements of these efforts. In the end，we propose the overall direction of the future steps for East Nanjing Road Community，so as to provide decision-making references for continuously improving the comprehensive ability of the community to serve the elderly.
