in order to continuously meet the growing needs of the elderly for a better life and implement the requirements of the municipal Party committee and the municipal government to launch the “Shanghai service” brand，the Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau launched the pilot work of community “elderly care consultant” in the city in May 2018. With the deepening of the work，how to develop the pension consultant to run sustainably has become an urgent problem to be solved. Through literature research，forum，field interview，questionnaire survey and other research methods，this paper combs the operation status and problems of pension consultant work，and on this basis，combined with the framework of pension advisory service system，puts forward suggestions for the sustainable operation of pension consultants.
