The industry is not only the source of regional economic growth，but also an important support for the cultivation of modern metropolitan area，which is conducive to the optimization and upgrading of industrial structure in the metropolitan area. As the node and micro center of the metropolitan area，the industrial new town is of great importance for gathering population and production factors and promoting its development. First，this paper analyzes the significance and the current situation of the new industrial city in the optimization of industrial structure in the metropolitan area. Second，the existing problems of the new industrial city are pointed out. Finally，from the innovation of system and mechanism，construction of the industrial system，optimization of industrial spatial layout，this paper puts forward the countermeasures and suggestions to promote the optimization and upgrading of industrial structure in the metropolitan area.
