With Chengdu as the central city and covering four cities（Chengdu，Deyang，Meishan and Ziyang），the Chengdu Metropolitan Area，is one of the largest and relatively maturest metropolitan areas in central and western China. Through in-depth analysis of the connotation concept of the metropolitan area，as well as the academic discussions and practical evolution of the Chengdu metropolitan area，the spatial scope of the metropolitan area of the Chengdu metropolitan area was defined. Then an intensively analysis to reveal the construction achievements of the Chengdu metropolitan area in terms of transportation，public services，industrial coordination，and central city development，was taken. Finally，several experiences of Chengdu metropolitan area construction are put forward as reference for scientific decision-making in the construction of metropolitan area in relevant regions.
