The New industrial city is the constituent node and functional block of the urban system in the metropolitan area. It is an important platform for the flow of elements in the metropolitan area and an important carrier for cultivating and growing new kinetic energy. It is also a new engine supporting the high-quality development of the metropolitan area. As China’s urbanization has entered a stage of high-quality development，rapid progress has been made in the construction of new industrial cities. Practical explorations have been made in supporting the industry，technology，infrastructure，public services，ecological environment，and urban-rural integration in the metropolitan area. Insufficient endogenous power of urban integration，the symphonic effect of central cities，insufficient ability to integrate element resources，and insufficient innovation in institutional mechanisms. In the future，the new industrial city should accelerate its construction around the industrial division of labor，infrastructure integration，public service co-construction and sharing，ecological environment co-preservation and co-governance，and development mechanism integration to effectively support the metropolitan area to achieve high-quality development.
