The following are the characteristics of Henan’s online public opinion incidents in 2020：The COVID-19 epidemic has become the focus of public opinion throughout the year；negative incidents involving officials have decreased，and incidents related to education，people’s livelihood，and public morality have increased；background factors no longer dominate the trend of events；the explosive power and continuity of online public opinion incidents are weakened. At the same time，the Internet public opinion incident also reflects some new problems：the “information plague” interferes with the overall anti-epidemic situation；self-media chaos frequently occurs；the entertainment color of the network space is becoming more and more intense；the grassroots management department focuses on skills but neglects the essence in the response to public opinion. The correct response to online public opinion is part of social governance，so governance concepts need to be introduced. Giving play to the role of the “community of public opinion”，realizing common governance，and clarifying the truth of the incident are the fundamental responses to public opinion.
