On June 26，2017，the Qilian Mountains National Park System Pilot Program was considered and passed，and Qilian Mountains National Park has since become one of the first 10 national park system pilots established in China. The Qilian Mountains National Park covers 50，200 square kilometers，and extends over Gansu and Qinghai provinces. As a major political task entrusted by the Party Central Committee to Gansu and Qinghai Provinces，the provincial governments attach great importance to the implementation of the pilot projects of the Qilian Mountains National Park system. Through construction initiatives such as establishing a sound coordination and promotion mechanism，accelerating the construction of planning institutions，focusing on raising the level of information-based monitoring of natural resources，strengthening ecosystem restoration，establishing sound management and comprehensive law enforcement agencies，and actively strengthening scientific and technological support，key tasks such as the withdrawal of mining rights，the construction of a new model of coordinated development for ecological protection and livelihood improvement，the formation of an integrated monitoring network for “heaven，earth and air”，the creation of a publicity platform for national parks，and the restoration of the ecological environment of the Qilian Mountains will gradually be completed. Currently，41 of the 44 tasks of the Gansu pilot system in the Qilian Mountains National Park have been completed，as have 23 of the 33 tasks of the Qinghai pilot system，and 10 tasks are being accelerated to completion. In the future development of Qilian Mountains National Park，it is suggested that the park should actively build a new management mechanism，promote the governance model of “community co-management” and “ecological citizen”，research and initiate ecotourism，establish a sound ecological compensation mechanism，and introduce the green management concept，to explore a construction path that meets the protection needs of the Qilian Mountains National Park system.
