Digital Humanities is emerging as a remarkable new research field in China and the world since 1990s. There is a growing development in research and application. However，there is still no explicit answer to how to define “digital humanities” and what it is in academic. In this article，I will start from the historical development of digital humanities. Secondly，I will present the research fashion about this field in the world，and also focus on the situation in different areas. And third of this article，the debates about the digital humanities will be discussed：some researcher consider it as a new approach to humanities research，others emphasize on digital tools making. Finally，this article will try to answer the question “what is digital humanities” based on the above discussion.
