This research focuses on the development of data journalism in the United States，and conducted in-depth interviews with seven US data journalism teams with development advantages. The interview found that relevant practitioners have more consistent definition and understanding of data journalism and believe that the nature of data journalism is journalism. The staff structure of the data journalism production team is relatively complex. The requirement for data journalism talents emphasizes the integration of disciplines. Those who are familiar with computer language and news processing are the talents the industry needs. The business processes of producing data news for each team are generally similar，with slight differences，and the forms of reporting and presentation are diversified. For the future development of data journalism，practitioners generally believe that it has macroscopic potential，but we cannot be blindly optimistic，and we must be alert to the risk of morbid dependence on data.
