In the 17th Lok Sabha elections in 2019，the BJP won a landslide victory，further consolidating the rightward shift in Indian politics. The results of the general election of the Communist Party of India （Marxist） fell to the lowest point in history，and the political space of the political left of India was further compressed. The defeat of the CPI（M） in the election could attribute to both internal and external reasons：the continuous decline of the basic political ability and the inadequate implementation of the rectification and adjustment measures after the election defeat in 2014；the success of the BJP’s electoral strategy and the support of the big bourgeoisie. CPI（M）’s current political line and strategy face unprecedented challenges，and if not to find an effective response strategy，it is bound to enter the development phase of a long-term recession.
