In 2020，affected by unstable factors such as the spread of the epidemic and trade protection，the GDP of the Sichuan Southern Economic Zone showed negative growth. However，as industry and investment rebounded，the economy gradually began to recover. This article believes that the economic growth rate of the Sichuan Southern Economic Zone will continue to rise steadily in 2020，the overall industrial structure will be upgraded，and the opening level will be further improved，but the intra-regional gap will gradually expand. In this context，whether the Sichuan Southern Economic Zone can cope with the challenges and seize the opportunities is the key to achieving steady development. Therefore，the Southern Economic Zone should stabilize economic fundamentals，integrate into the twin-city economic circle of Chengdu-Chongqing，adhere to the coordinated development of industries，improve the level of balanced development of the regional economy. Promote the strategy of “one trunk，multiple branches，and five districts working together” and made important contributions to Sichuan’s “four-way expansion and opening up across the region”.
