Based on the statistical data from 2012 to 2019，the research was carried out by combining qualitative analysis with quantitative analysis，normative analysis with empirical analysis. The number of private colleges and universities in Henan is increasing on the whole；school hardware resources have been greatly improved；teachers have been significantly strengthened. In the new era，private education in Henan is facing the pressure brought by the rapid development of public universities，the new requirements brought by the popularization of higher education and the challenge of artificial intelligence. In terms of the internal environment of the development of private higher education in Henan and the advantages and disadvantages of private colleges，private education in Henan has a broader space for running schools，richer connotations，more diversified forms，more autonomy and more sound supervision mechanism.
