In 2012，the United Nations Educational，scientific and Cultural Organization awarded Beijing the title of “design city”. Focusing on the promotion of the construction of “design city” in Beijing，this report gives a preliminary overview of the development，industrial characteristics and current situation of Beijing’s design industry，analyzes the existing problems of Beijing’s design industry，and puts forward development suggestions. As the high-end link of science and technology service industry，design industry is the last step to get through the transformation of scientific and technological achievements. It has become an important engine to promote the implementation of development strategy driven by innovation in Beijing，to promote the supply side structural reform，to help build a high-end economic structure，to ease non capital functions，and to promote the upgrading of the city’s industrial structure and scientific development.
