Smart community is a product of scientific and technological development. It is mainly composed of infrastructure layer，functional application layer and decision-making management layer. It includes four modules：smart government，smart people’s livelihood，smart family and smart property. It is a new model of community management. The concept of smart community originated in the United States. At the end of 1980s，China’s smart community began to develop. It was divided into three stages：community intelligence，community digitization and community intelligence. By analyzing the current development mode and construction status of China’s smart community，Reflecting on the problems existing in the construction of China’s intelligent communities，such as the need to strengthen the ideological understanding of some areas，the lack of unified planning，the lack of unified standards for the construction of intelligent communities，the lack of construction funds，the insufficient development of resources，the shortage of technical personnel，etc.，this paper puts forward the future development direction of China’s intelligent communities，i.e. network coverage，system integration，equipment intelligence and design ecology，and innovates the ideas for the development of China’s intelligent communities.
