The Wandering Earth is a landmark in the Chinese film industry. This paper analyses the film from the following perspectives of，including，the general background，the box office revenue around the world，the public opinion and feedback，and the production and narration. Besides，it makes a systematic summary of the existing issues of the film；and finally prospects the future trend of science fiction （sci-fi） films in China. It proves that，with the rapid development of the Chinese film industrialisation，the advanced vision and a substantial technical level have been shown in the production of the Chinese sci-fi film genre. The success of The Wandering Earth is from the insistence on industrialisation of the Chinese film insiders. It shows that the positive market attitude to the high-cost sci-fi films has been preliminarily established. This paper aims to introduce how The Wandering Earth has successfully pioneered the sci-fi genre，which can benefit blockbusters in other genres to embrace the domestic and the international market.
