Improving environmental competitiveness is the key point for promoting high-quality development. As an important national central city and the core city of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area，Guangzhou needs to give full play to its demonstration and leading role. By evaluating the environmental competitiveness of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area，the article clarifies the advantages and disadvantages of Guangzhou’s environmental competitiveness and provides a reference for playing its leading role，improving its environmental competitiveness，promoting its economic transformation and upgrading and high-quality development. The evaluation results show that：（1）Guangzhou’s environmental competitiveness ranks 5 in the Greater Bay Area，at the midstream level and lags behind the economic level. （2）The sub-items of Guangzhou’s environmental competitiveness are relatively uneven，with obvious advantages and disadvantages. （3）Compared with leading cities such as Hong Kong，Macao and Shenzhen，Guangzhou is relatively backward in terms of environmental quality，infrastructure and resource utilization efficiency. （4）Guangzhou should speed up in improving environmental quality and facility service capabilities and should focus on enhancing environmental innovation and environmental management capabilities.
