Building “zero-waste city” or implementation of zero waste policy has become an important way for more and more countries to build a resource efficient economy and achieve sustainable development. The issue of solid waste management is essentially a matter of development，lifestyle and consumption patterns. “Zero-waste city” construction in China is regarded as an ecological civilization system reform in the field of solid waste，and is an important part of the construction of beautiful China. This paper introduced the international practice of implementing zero waste policy，and elaborated the background，connotation，construction content and main progress of China’s “zero-waste city” construction. The construction of “zero-waste city” is regarded as a new way to achieve green and low carbon development at home and abroad.
